	School based integration of pupils with special needs into ordinary units and classes of every kind and level of education (including the universities) is achieved through a co-ordinated plan of school services, health and social assistance, cultural, recreation and sport centres as well as through other activities managed by public or private bodies. Technical equipment and educational instruments are also supplied to schools and universities. Local authorities are obliged to provide every kind of school, at every level of education, with an assistance aimed at the autonomy and personal communication of pupils affected by physical or sensory handicaps. Groups of experts in school integration advice, the Provincial Director of Education (Provveditore agli studi) and each school collaborate with the local authorities and with the Local Health Authority (Azienda sanitaria locale) in order to draw up a common plan to implement individual education programmes and other activities concerning integration of pupils with special
