Assessment in Inclusive Settings - Dissemination Conference

The European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education Assessment in Inclusive Settings project concludes with the ‘Cyprus Recommendations on Inclusive Assessment’ prepared by Representatives of 30 European countries.

More than 150 participants representing 30 countries met during the Dissemination Conference 'Assessment in Inclusive Settings' organised jointly by the Cypriot Ministry of Education and Culture and the European Agency for Development in Special Needs Education which took place 23rd and 24th October 2008 in Limassol, Cyprus.

The Conference marked the end of the Agency’s 3 year project examining Assessment in Inclusive Settings and the continuation of the work on National levels.

Over 3 years a total of 30 countries have dedicated themselves to examining Assessment processes, procedures, methods and tools as a crucial factor in supporting learning and raising achievement for all pupils, including those identified with special education needs across Europe.

During this conference the representatives prepared the ‘Cyprus Recommendations on Inclusive Assessment’ a document that will be agreed upon by all representatives of participating countries. The Minister of Education, Dr. Andreas Demetriou, who opened the meeting, will then disseminate the ‘Cyprus Recommendations on Inclusive Assessment’ to all of his Ministerial colleagues across Europe.

The meeting was closed by the Director General of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Cyprus, Ms. Olympia Stylianou.

The ‘Cyprus Recommendations on Inclusive Assessment’ will be available via the Agency website www.european-agency.org.

All of the findings and materials from the project are available from the Assessment Project Area
