Higher Education Accessibility Guide (HEAG)
In January 2010 the Agency has launched a revised and updated Higher Education Accessibility Guide (HEAG) available at http://www.european-agency.org/agency-projects/heag. This web area is a unique guide to disability support services in Higher Education Institutions across Europe.
This new web area is now available providing different types of information relevant for students with disabilities who are considering Higher Education study abroad possibilities. The intention is that this information will help students with disabilities and the professionals that support them to make decisions about possibilities for study programmes and exchange activities.
Project experts from 26 Agency member countries in addition to Croatia and Slovakia have collaborated to collect focused information, which can be accessed:
- via country pages, offering country specific information on Higher Education (support for students with disabilities, the national approach to higher education and disability, contact information of key people);
- via the HEAG database that allows users to search specialist services and accessibility support for students in higher education in each of the countries.
From these country pages you can access information regarding support for students with disabilities, the national approach to higher education and disability, as well as contact information of key people – including the HEAG project experts - in the country you have selected.
In addition you can search for specific institutions and the availability of specific disability support services in the language(s) of the country you have selected as well as in English using the direct links to the searchable database. The database will launch with details from approximately 350 European Higher Education Institutions.
More information will continue to be added to the database. A complete update of the Higher Education Accessibility Guide will take place every 2 years. All information within HEAG is available in English and the language of the respective country the information refers to.
If you would like to have more information on Higher Education in your country, please visit your country pages for the contact details of your HEAG representative. For more information on HEAG, you can also contact heag@european-agency.org
