Kids, Art and New Media

Between August 2002 and March 2005 almost 40 projects, which explored the world with digital media have been undertaken by pupils, teachers and artists at primary schools and schools for pupils with special needs. The questions and answers that have arisen from our projects will be discussed in the light of different perspectives.

What is the gain of co-operations between schools and external partners?
Which crises and miracles can occur in collaborative projects in schools and how can we cope with them?
What advantages (or disadvantages) does working with digital media have for pupils with special needs? Which other factors play a part in the progress of a project?

Speeches will be prepared by our academic supervisors, the project leaders and co-ordinators as well as international guests. Furthermore pupils, teachers, and artists will exhibit their work to provide you an insight into the projects and the single steps of the working process. The end of the conference will be marked by the screening of all videos produced during the projects.

Markus Schega, co-ordinator of "Kids, Art and New Media"
Nanna Lüth and Carmen Mörsch, academic supervisors

ISAR - Project: Inclusion of Students / Children with Visual Impairment at Regular Schools

The project ISaR is based on the know-how and expertise of the teachers, students and parents. ISaR intends to collect and systematise approaches, efforts, concepts, strategies and materials and make them available to all interested people. This can be achieved by working together with parents, teachers of regular schools and schools for the blind and visually impaired as well as students. Therefore, ISaR relies on your support, participation and interest in working together.

Priorities
I. Databases: consisting of special literature and experience reports, adapted textbooks and
material for inclusive education.
II. Developing and Establishing a Pool of Didactic Information: consisting of drafts, proposals and teaching units to realise teaching which respects the perception and strategies of the visually impaired students.
III. Network and Enlargement of Further Education Programmes: for teachers of all types of schools, as well as a network of the already existing programmes
IV. Development of a Coordinating Centre: with the objective to support all people involved in the process of interactive teaching.

The key to further development of education of people with visual impairments lies in the mutuality and a network of expertise and resources. What is mutually developed will support and facilitate the individual work. "Together everyone achieves more"
