Swedish institute for Special Needs Education
Focus: Children, teenagers and adults with disabilities have the right to education equal to the education of others. To attain this, the Swedish Institute for Special Needs Education offers educational support to local authorities, schools and professionals.
Target: The main focus for SIT is the municipalities and those responsible for special needs education
Support provided: Information, education, and support in developmental work in the field of special needs education. The Swedish Institute for Special Needs Education has four national resource centres that provide specialist expertise in the special pedagogical consequences for students with impaired sight, with or without any other disability, deafness or impaired hearing combined with developmental problems, congenital deafness and blindness, and serious speech and language problems. SIT -Educational Material develop and adapt special educational materials and support external producers that develope materials for students with disabilities.

education determines the choice of profession and work. Furthermore, an education nearly always leads to increased social and cultural activities. People with disabilities are entitled to the same opportunities as everyone else. Sisus's task is to improve the chances for disabled young persons and adults to obtain a good education.
