Inclusive Education in Germany

Inclusion is a major issue in Germany, but the term is not clearly defined. What does inclusion mean regarding school education and how is it going to be implemented in the German Länder? These new publications, published by the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung provide an up-to-date overview on the developments of inclusion in schools in Germany.

Each issue highlights the current state of implementation in the respective federal state as well as the ongoing political debate on this issue. The brochures show in detail the political, educational and financial developments and challenges.

A series of publications is available here in German.

National Monitoring Mechanism for the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities

The National CRPD Monitoring Mechanism - Deutsches Institut für Menschenrechte - is an independent body which promotes respect of the rights of people with disabilities and implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UN CRPD) in Germany.

In Germany there are separate systems in place for persons with disabilities in many different areas of life: in housing, in the world of employment and in the education system. The National CDRP Monitoring Mechanism works to promote inclusion in all areas of life. Visit the Deutsches Institut für Menschenrechte website for more information about their work.
