The Global Week to Act for SDGs (#Act4SDGs) takes place from 15–25 September. It is an opportunity for people to show their commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The 17 SDGs form an integral part of the United Nations’ (UN) 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which all UN member states adopted in 2015. The SDGs each contain targets that countries aim to reach by 2030 to ensure a more sustainable future for people and the planet. SGD 4, to ‘ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all’, is a key element in the Agency’s work with its member countries.
The Global Week is timed to coincide with the UN General Assembly High-level Week, when world leaders gather to debate and discuss global issues. As this year marks the mid-point of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs, the debates will revolve around the progress made towards achieving the Agenda’s targets.
The theme of the 2023 Global Week is ‘Unite to Act!’. People across the world are invited to take part and share how they unite to act for the SDGs in their communities. The #Act4SDGs website invites participants to register their actions on a Global Map. People can use the map to find events and activities taking place in their communities. The website also contains suggestions for actions, together with resources to help develop them.
