2 How many pupils are enrolled in all formal educational settings in: 1,208,038 816,476 Eurostat: pupils enrolled in primary education by sex and age [educ_uoe_enrp05] and pupils enrolled in lower-secondary education by programme orientation, sex and age [educ_uoe_enrs02] / Statistics Netherlands (CBS) ISCED 1: all pupils from the age of 6 who are in primary education and special education (including 32,517 children who are still in kindergarten at the age of 6 and 4,174 pupils who are 13 years or older). ISCED 2: all pupils who are in praktijkonderwijs 'practical training', vmbo 'lower-secondary vocational education', havo/vwo leerjaar 1–3 'lower-secondary general education grades 7–9', mbo-1 'assistants training' and secondary special education. Registered pupils in the privately-funded education sector are also counted in this indicator. The difference in the ISCED 1 figures between Question 1 and Question 2 can be explained by the difference in ages in both indicators, mainly due to the 12-year-old pupils who are already in secondary education.

4 How many pupils are enrolled in mainstream formal educational settings with their non-disabled peers in: 1,180,082 777,380 CBS All pupils are in mainstream settings, except for the pupils who are in special education settings. There are pupils with special educational needs in mainstream settings, but they are not registered nationwide.
