The service is going to report this information to Eurostat. The differences are due to the nature of the reported information. Question 1: population estimates are produced by Statistics Portugal. Question 2 is administrative data relating to pupils enrolled in primary and lower-secondary education. In both situations, the date of respective age has been counted: ISCED 1: ages 6 to 11; ISCED 2: ages 12 to 14. If the repetition that exists in Portugal is taken into account, the number of pupils to be considered in ISCED level 1 is 611,017 and the number of pupils to be considered in ISCED level 2 is 347,450.
3 How many pupils are out of any formal educational settings in: M M Data not available. In Portugal, compulsory education lasts for 12 years or up to the age of 18 years. School leavers or children excused from school attendance due to health problems, according to legislation, remain outside the formal education system. There is no information about those pupils.
