As part of the Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, a meeting of the directors of the Erasmus+ national agencies took place in Copenhagen, Denmark, last week. The event brought together participants from across Europe to share their experiences of and ideas for the Erasmus+ programme.
The event was opened by the Director of the Danish National Agency and the Director General of the Danish Agency for Higher Education and Science. Michael Teutsch, Acting Director of the Directorate-General for Education, Youth, Sport and Culture in the European Commission, presented an update from the Commission on its plans for the Erasmus+ programme for 2028 to 2034. The programme aims to be as inclusive as ever and ensure learning opportunities for all.
EASNIE Director João Costa gave a keynote speech at the event, in which he stressed the key principles of inclusive education and explored current challenges faced in education systems across Europe, such as retaining teachers and funding. Dr Costa showcased some of EASNIE’s activities and outlined some of the ways its work can help countries overcome these challenges, including through Erasmus+ activities. He also pointed out how the future Erasmus+ programme can be more inclusive and support education professionals in implementing inclusive education.
Alongside the speeches, attendees were invited to actively participate in the meeting, discussing topics such as inclusion and diversity and exploring the plans for the future Erasmus+ programme.
