The European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education (EASNIE) is an independent and self-governing organisation that acts as a platform for collaboration among its 31 member countries. EASNIE’s mission is to support member countries in improving their educational policy and practice and in working towards more inclusive education systems.
Our working language is English, and we also publish key documents in the languages of our member countries (currently 24 languages).
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Freelance Media Consultant to enhance EASNIE’s visibility and engagement across both traditional and digital media.
The consultant will play a key role in planning, creating and managing EASNIE’s social media presence on Instagram and Facebook, while also co-ordinating outreach to journalists and broadcasters. Working closely with the Information Dissemination team, the consultant will help ensure that EASNIE’s messages and outputs are clear, engaging and accessible to diverse audiences.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic plan for EASNIE’s social media presence on Instagram and Facebook.
- Create, curate and manage high-quality, engaging content that reflects EASNIE’s mission and values.
- Synthesise complex information on inclusive education into clear, audience-appropriate messages.
- Co-ordinate and maintain relationships with journalists, media outlets and TV producers, ensuring accurate and positive media coverage.
- Support the production of video materials, including co-ordination with video production companies and quality assurance of final outputs.
- Ensure consistent tone, visual identity and alignment with communication objectives.
- Monitor analytics and social media trends to evaluate engagement and inform on‑going improvements.
Required qualifications and skills
- Primary fluency/bilingual proficiency in English, with exceptional writing, editing and storytelling skills.
- Proven experience in media, public relations and social media management, ideally within the fields of education or human rights.
- Demonstrated experience working with journalists, TV broadcasters or other traditional media outlets.
- Strong understanding of digital communication strategies and audience engagement on social media.
- Ability to translate complex educational or policy content into clear, engaging and visually coherent messages.
- Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills; ability to work independently, remotely and across international teams.
- Technical proficiency with relevant digital and media tools.
Working arrangements
- Remote work, but residency in Europe required, as some travel is expected for participation in meetings, events or production activities.
- Flexible working hours (3 days or 24 hours per week).
