Registration open for the Scottish Learning Festival, 23-24 September 2015

Scotland’s key educational event is taking place on Wednesday 23 and Thursday 24 September in the SECC, Glasgow. Registration for the Scottish Learning Festival (SLF) 2015 is now open at www.scottishlearningfestival.org.uk

SLF is the only free national education event in Scotland that has something on offer for everyone involved in Scottish education.

SLF 2015 offers a unique combination of networking, engagement and professional learning.

The theme of this year’s event focuses on raising achievement and attainment for all by maximising educational outcomes through:

  • Local partnerships and collaboration – to share approaches that lead to better outcomes
  • Self-evaluation – to ensure creative and innovative approaches to sustained improvement
  • Work-related learning – to improve transitions into sustainable productive employment

SLF 2015 is free for everyone to attend and gives you access to:

  • Internationally renowned keynote speakers
  • Over 100 professional development seminars where you can engage in activities and learn from practitioners and young people
  • Debate and discussion at professional discussion sessions
  • Over 100 exhibitors in Scotland’s largest education exhibition
  • Scotland’s largest education exhibition with over 100 exhibitors showcasing educational resources
  • Opportunities for discussion and professional networking with colleagues from across Scotland and further afield

 The keynote speakers at this year’s SLF are:

  • Angela Constance MSP, Cabinet Secretary for Education and Lifelong Learning
  • Prof Mel Ainscow, Professor of Education and Co-Director of the Centre for Equity in Education, University of Manchester
  • Dr Bill Maxwell, Chief Executive, Education Scotland
  • Chris van der Kuyl, Entrepreneur and Chairman 4J Studios

To allow for more debate and discussion, the programme will once again feature three professional discussions.  Discussions will focus on

  • How good is our school?
  • Closing the gap
  • Developing the Young Workforce

New for 2015

A number of new features have been added to the SLF line-up, to celebrate the Year of Food and Drink the exhibition will feature a Food for Thought Showcase where schools from across Scotland will demonstrate how they have developed and improved learning and teaching around food education.  The Healthier Scotland Cooking Bus will also be at SLF to provide cooking demonstrations.

Another exciting new feature in the exhibition will the Developing the Young Workforce showcase where partner organisations, employers, training providers and others will bring Developing the Young Workforce to life.

The SLF experience also includes a range of other activities taking place in the exhibition hall.

The exhibition at SLF will bring learning to life and will showcase over 100 educational suppliers covering all levels of education.  Visitors will have the opportunity to meet well established companies supplying some of the most innovative classroom resources.  In addition a whole host of companies new to SLF will be exhibiting for the first time.
