New report on teacher professional learning in Finland and Ireland

EASNIE has published a new report on teacher professional learning, as part of the ‘Fostering inclusive quality education in Finland and Ireland’ project.

EASNIE is implementing the project, which is funded by the European Union’s Technical Support Instrument (TSI), in co-operation with the European Commission’s Reform and Investment Task Force (SG REFORM), Finland’s Ministry of Education and Culture and Ireland’s Department of Education.

Following a report on the legislative framework for inclusive education in Finland and Ireland, this new report provides a review of the countries’ professional development frameworks and policies. Teacher professional learning is essential to inclusive education, ensuring that all teachers have the skills, knowledge and attitudes to support diverse learners.

The new report explores all teacher professional learning, from initial teacher education through to continuing professional development, including induction and in-school learning opportunities. Informed by previous EASNIE work on teacher professional learning, the report outlines teacher professional learning frameworks in both countries. It highlights shared strengths and challenges, offering insights into how each country can further support teacher professional learning for inclusion.

The report is available on the TSI outputs webpage. More information about EASNIE’s work within the TSI is available on the TSI web area.
