All Agency member countries are committed to working towards more inclusive education systems. They do so in different ways, depending on their past and current contexts and histories.
An inclusive approach requires a move away from ‘formal’ assessment and labelling, with separate educational provision for different groups. Central to this commitment and understanding of inclusive education are the legal definitions countries have to identify (and potentially label) learners to make provision available for them.
The Agency’s data collection activity (EASIE) provides clearly focused data that informs country policy priorities on inclusive education, the European Commission’s strategic objectives on inclusive education and the implementation of Article 24 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (2006).

A new report highlights the gaps that remain on the road to achieving the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Sweden.
This report is the main output of phase 1 of the Teacher Professional Learning for Inclusion (TPL4I) project. Phase 1 aimed to identify the policy elements and framework needed to ensure all teachers, at each stage of their career, are prepared for inclusive education.
The policy self-review tool was used to map the national teacher professional learning for inclusion (TPL4I) policies of the countries that participated in the project. This was a collaborative process, in which the project team added relevant policy information to the policy self-review tool. This information came from national legislation, regulations, international or European-level reports commenting on national policy, etc. The Agency country representatives verified and updated the information.
