Young People’s Impressions from the 2015 European Hearing

The event took place under the aegis of the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union, aiming to empower and ensure the involvement of learners in shaping educational policies. Young people with and without disabilities came together to discuss how their schools and communities ensure an inclusive education for them.

The 2015 European Hearing

On 16 October 2015 the Luxembourg Presidency of the European Union hosted the Agency’s fourth Hearing entitled ‘Inclusive education: Take action!’. The aim of the event was to empower and ensure the involvement of learners in shaping educational policies.

Accessible Information Provision for Lifelong Learning i-access project

This is a presentation of the i-access project which ran from March 2011 to February 2012, aiming to raise awareness on the issues surrounding accessible information provision for lifelong learning in order to facilitate positive developments towards accessible information provision.

The ICT4I project

ICT for inclusion was agreed as being a priority for the European Agency for Special Needs and Inclusive Education member countries in the 2010 Country Survey.

Guidelines for Accessible Information

The ICT4I project focuses on the use of ICT to support the learning of learners with disabilities and special educational needs in inclusive settings within compulsory education.

Organisation of Provision to Support Inclusive Education

The OoP project (2011 – 2014) set out to address the question: 
How are systems of provision organised to meet the needs of learners (identified as having disabilities under the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities) in inclusive settings within the compulsory school sector?

Teacher Education for Inclusion

The TE4I project ran between 2009 and 2012 with 25 Agency member countries participating in the project. 55 experts took part in activities including; SNE specialist teacher educators and policy makers, Mainstream teacher educators and policy makers.

Accountability measures that impact on teachers’ work should value wider achievement and should be aligned with inclusive principles.

Developing a high quality education system that gives all learners the opportunity to raise their achievement is an ethical imperative.

Early childhood intervention means as early as possible, as flexible as possible, as close as possible and as short as possible.
